Is Gemini encrypted?
No. Google can read your Gemini chats, and human reviewers read some of them. Turning off Keep Activity or using a temporary chat limits how chats are used, but neither seals anything.

Turn off Keep Activity
- On your computer, go to gemini.google.com.
- Click Activity.
- Near the top, click On, then choose Turn off or Turn off and delete activity.
This doesn't seal anything. Google still keeps new chats with your account for up to 72 hours, and chats already picked for human review stay for up to 3 years, apart from your account. Some connected apps stop working while it's off.

Do humans read my Gemini chats?
Some, yes. Google says a subset of chats are read by human reviewers, including trained reviewers at its service providers, to rate answers, improve them and keep Gemini safe1. Google asks you not to enter anything confidential you wouldn't want a reviewer to see1.
Reviewed chats are disconnected from your account and kept for up to 3 years, even if you delete your activity1.
Does Gemini train on my chats?
If Keep Activity is on, yes, and it's on by default for adults2. Google uses that activity to improve its services, including training its AI models1.
With Keep Activity off, Google says your future chats won't train its models unless you send feedback1. Google also says your Gemini settings don't stop it from turning chats into anonymized data to improve its services1.
Are Gemini temporary chats private?
