Is Google Calendar encrypted?
No. Google can read your Google Calendar events. They're stored with keys Google holds, and invites go out to guests as normal email.

- Post-quantumNot yetNo post-quantum protection announced as of 25 October 2026.
- Who holds the keys
- Google holds them, and personal accounts have no option to keep your own.
- What Google can still see
- Everything in your calendar: event titles, times, places, descriptions and guest lists.
On business plans, admins on some Google Workspace editions, such as Enterprise Plus, can turn on client-side encryption for event descriptions and attachments, but titles, times and guest lists stay readable to Google.
Email is worth checking next: Gmail, Outlook and iCloud Mail can all read your mailbox. See which email services can.
Is Google Calendar end-to-end encrypted?
No, not on personal accounts. Google encrypts stored data, and describes client-side encryption as the extra layer that only an organization controls1. Without it, Google holds the keys. Its privacy policy says it collects the content you create and analyzes it with automated systems2.
Client-side encryption is only for some Workspace business and education plans1. Even then, Google says it covers the event description and attachments, not the title, times or guest list1.
Can Google see my calendar events?
Yes. Google holds the keys, and with smart features on, it links Calendar with your other Google data, for example adding flights from Gmail to your calendar4. If you choose to connect Google Calendar to Google's search services, which is offered in the US in English, those services can use it to tailor answers5.
Google says data from apps you connect this way can also be used to show you ads, depending on your settings6.
Are Google Calendar invites private?
Not from Google, and not from your guests' email providers. Guests receive an email invitation, even if they don't use Google Calendar3. That email can be read like any other email by Google and by each guest's provider.
How Google Calendar compares
Sorted by how many parts are sealed by default, then by how many can be. Ties go A to Z.
